Tool identification and management using NFC technology

Imagine this: You're a construction worker, knee-deep in a project. You need a specific tool, but it's nowhere to be found. You've searched high and low, wasting precious time. Sound familiar?

Here's a short video explaining NFC Tech

How does it work?

It's simple. Each tool gets a special tag. This tag is like a digital ID card, storing information about the tool: its name, type, and even the last time it was used. When you tap your phone to the tag, the app instantly shows you all the details.

Finding lost tools or materials is tricky at large construction sites with many changing workers. NFC allows the builders to identify and book the tools in real-time: tap ”collect” when they start to use the tool as well as tap ”return”, when they return it. When missplaced, they can see where the tool was recently used.

This way also the managers always know where their resourses are and what is the status of of them. If they need to order new tools, they know that, too, without a delay

So, who benefits from ToolLog?

Everyone involved in construction, from the project manager to the site worker. It helps construction companies save time, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. It's like having a digital safety net for your tools.

Product Demo

Designing ToolLog

We started with a thorough understanding of the product requirements document (PRD) provided by the product managers. This outlined the app's core functionalities, target users, and desired outcomes.

As the designer for ToolLog, I worked closely with the development team to ensure that the app's design aligned with technical constraints and capabilities. We collaborated on wireframes, prototypes, and flows, ensuring that the design was not only visually appealing but also feasible to implement. By iterating on the design based on feedback, we were able to deliver a product that effectively solved the problem of tool management on construction sites.
